Besides, states have to implement the innovation according to their regional specification, like what Karnataka follows cannot be the same for Uttar Pradesh. Now, scientists at ICAR, Delhi, have developed an easy-to-use technology- an ultra-sensitive sensor that can detect arsenic contamination within 15 minutes in water and food samples. States have to implement the innovation according to their regional specification, like what Karnataka follows cannot be the same for Uttar Pradesh.
Recently, India focuses on Vertical Farming
Vertical Farming Workshop focuses on transforming farms into factories.
On October 18, 2018, the Indian Council of agricultural research (ICAR) hosted a day-long workshop on vertical farming in the NASCComplex, PUSA, New Delhi, in conjunction with Amity University, Noida. The session focused on the current state of vertical farming, researchable issues, and future directions. Technology that focuses on creating and growing a business model from farms is widely marketed, and India has been working to develop one such model and governmental framework to encourage such improvements in the agricultural sector.
Vertical farms make efficient use of available space in the face of dwindling land sizes. In this one-day workshop, researchers, academicians, intellectuals, and industrialists from throughout the country reviewed the scope and current state of vertical farming in the horticultural sector.
Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR, gave the introductory presentation and spoke to the audience about the need of introducing such technology in India. The program was divided into five themes, with Theme 1 focusing on the status, possibilities, and issues in the vertical farming sector. The second theme focused on R&D in the private sector. Themes 3 and 4 focused on fruits and vegetable crops, whereas theme 3 focused on spices and ornamental crops. The fifth topic focused on medicinal crops, mushrooms, and organic farming.
